Importers and exporters can take advantage of trade programs in the U.S. and foreign countries to find savings in their supply chains. Edward J. Zarach & Associates are experts at asking the right questions to save money by designing products to take advantage of reduced or free duty opportunities. We communicate with Customs, securing decisions that lock in landed costs. We audit for overpayments and apply for refunds where available. Finally, we can aid in crafting programs to defer duty and aggregate user fees, keeping money out of a government’s hands wherever possible.
INTERNATIONAL TRADE CONSULTING
Importers and exporters can participate in programs to increase their visibility with Customs and decrease the likelihood of examination of their cargo. Whether C-TPAT for importers or exporters or the Broker Known Importer Program (BKIP), we can provide an end-to-end solution from application, through program development and finally validation audit assistance to gain admittance to these programs.
DUTY DRAWBACK
Customs does not volunteer that import duties can be refunded when exported goods meet the right criteria. Edward J. Zarach & Associates provides duty drawback filing services on behalf of importers and exporters to recover eligible import duties from Customs and Border Protection.
CLASSIFICATION
Identifying the proper classification prior to importing a product is the cornerstone of an established landed cost. By asking questions about origin, composition, design, use, capabilities and more, we can advise on the correct classification or apply to U.S. Customs for a binding ruling on an importer’s behalf, removing any doubt or differences of opinion across ports of entry.
ACE PORTAL MANAGEMENT
Beginning in November, 2015, the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) became the system of record for Customs in the United States. Importers can create portal accounts to monitor and manage communications, compliance and information about their companies with CBP. Edward J. Zarach & Associates can manage the portal on behalf of companies and provide detailed, customized reports for an importer to manage their supply chain.
AUDIT
Before Customs comes to audit for real, retain us to perform a mock audit on your behalf. A mock audit is an opportunity to review or establish your compliance program, evaluate entries and, if necessary, manage risk and possibly make a voluntary tender on incorrect entries. A voluntary tender cannot prevent further action by CBP, but it reduces the financial exposure which would be much greater were CBP to have found the errors first.
